Power Factors for LED Lighting

Power Factors for LED Lighting

Mean Well has extended the power range of its power supply family to 90W with the introduction of the LPF-90(D) series, which equipped with a range of basic functions, while the LPF-90D series boasts additional, three-in-one dimming functionality utilising a 1 to 10 V d.c. PWM signal or variable resistance to achieve brightness reduction and energy savings.

The power supplies achieve IP67 protection and are enclosed in a plastic case with 94V-0 fire prevention level. Their internal shock absorption can withstand 5 G vibrations. They possess up to 91% efficiency and can work between -40°C and +70°C with free air convection alone. Not only do the units meet the harmonic current limitation per EN61000-3-2 Class C (60% of load), they also guarantee a power factor above 0,9 if loading over 60%, which complies with the requirements of typical lighting applications.

The new models use double isolated, cable-style input/output connections and the LPF-90D has additional control wires for the dimming operation. Other standard functions include protection for short circuit, over-voltage, overload and over-temperature.
